Senior Software Engineer – Java and Python

Freelance contract for 6 months initially
The rate is up to €125 per hour, it is 40 hours per week
1 day per week in the Amsterdam offices

Join our innovative team as a Senior Software Engineer specialising in Java and Python, where you’ll play a pivotal role in building production-ready URN libraries and enhancing our large-scale data platform’s identifier resolver service. This is your chance to develop robust, cross-language libraries that support complex identifier types, validation, and seamless data integrations across diverse systems. Your expertise will help create a standardized, scalable identifier ecosystem that simplifies data management and drives global insights.
Required Skills:

• Extensive production experience in Java and Python
• Proven ability in designing reusable libraries, SDKs, or platform components
• Expertise in API design, parsing, validation, and automated testing
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
• Familiarity with schemas, catalogues, metadata, or identity systems
• Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to Have Skills:

• Kafka or event-streaming experience
• Knowledge of OpenLineage, data lineage, metadata, knowledge graph, or data catalogue systems
• Experience in publishing and maintaining multi-language packages

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Demonstrated success in developing scalable, high-performance software solutions

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work independently through design, MVP delivery, and stabilisation phases
• Willingness to collaborate closely with architects and domain teams to onboard new identifier types
• Open to candidates with a passion for advancing data identity and standardisation
