Payments Process Analyst
We are supporting a global organisation.
6 months contract initially – 40 hours per week- hourly rate is up to €58, 2 days per week in the Amsterdam office
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payments Process Analyst to join our finance operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and improving key payment processes across the business, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in all financial transactions.
You’ll work cross-functionally with stakeholders in finance, operations, product, and technology teams to monitor, investigate, and resolve issues related to payment flows, reconciliation, and reporting. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, a process-driven mindset, and the ability to identify and implement improvements in complex financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage daily payment processes and workflows, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Investigate payment issues or anomalies across platforms, identifying root causes and coordinating with internal teams for resolution.
- Support reconciliation of payment transactions between internal systems and external payment service providers (PSPs).
- Document and maintain standard operating procedures for payment processes, ensuring up-to-date guidance is available.
- Collaborate with product and tech teams to define requirements and test payment-related features or changes.
- Track and report on key payment performance metrics, including transaction success rates, fees, and settlement timelines.
- Contribute to audits and compliance activities by providing accurate process documentation and data insights.
- Recommend and help implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and support scalability.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a finance operations, payments, or treasury-related role — ideally within an online or digital business environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large volumes of financial or transactional data.
- Working knowledge of payment gateways, processors, and settlement flows.
- Familiarity with reconciliation processes, financial reporting, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in Excel, and experience with BI tools or SQL is a plus.
