HR Plant Manager

A prominent organization in the automotive sector, is looking for a skilled HR Specialist to join their team in Madison, MS. This position is focused on supporting the phased closure of a non-union automotive manufacturing facility.

This role requires a HR professional with hands-on experience in high-stakes environments such as Tier 1 or OEM automotive plants, who can work closely with site leadership to manage employee relations, uphold compliance, and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives during a period of transition.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Support & Project Partnership: 

   – Act as the HR lead on-site, partnering directly with the Site Manager to address all HR-related matters associated with the closure.

   – Ensure that HR initiatives align with business objectives, supporting a smooth transition and maintaining productivity and morale.

   – Provide regular updates and insights to leadership on workforce planning, employee morale, and engagement levels.

Comprehensive Talent Management

   – Develop and implement strategies for staffing adjustments, recruitment, onboarding, and exit processes to support the transition timeline.

   – Facilitate training sessions and manage career development support for impacted employees to help them prepare for future roles, either within the organization or externally.

   – Lead employee communications and ensure all staff understand their options and resources throughout the closure process.

Payroll & Administration Oversight 

   – Administer payroll processes for the site, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all employees.

   – Streamline administrative functions to enhance efficiency and compliance during the closure.

   – Support and troubleshoot HRIS and payroll system issues, providing guidance to employees and managers as needed.

Health, Safety, & Compliance Assurance

   – Maintain safe working conditions in alignment with Group Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

   – Ensure site policies and procedures are compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations.

   – Act as the primary HR liaison for regulatory and compliance audits, addressing any issues in partnership with site management.

Employee Relations & Industrial Relations Management

   – Establish and maintain open communication with employees and local representatives, addressing concerns promptly and empathetically.

   – Mediate disputes as necessary, ensuring fair and constructive resolutions that support both employee wellbeing and organizational objectives.

   – Manage exit processes thoughtfully, including coordination of severance and outplacement support where applicable.

Qualifications:

-Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

-Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior-level HR role within an industrial or manufacturing environment, ideally in a Tier 1 or OEM automotive setting.

– Proven experience with HR project management and strategic partnership roles, particularly in high-stakes or transitional environments.

-Skills & Competencies:

-Employment Law & Compliance: Strong understanding of employment law and the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements.

-HRIS & Payroll Proficiency: Familiarity with HR information systems and payroll processing to support site operations.

-Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and inform across levels of the organization.

-International Mindset: Comfortable working in diverse and multi-faceted team environments with a global perspective.

Additional Information:

This role is a unique opportunity to make an impact by leading HR initiatives that support employees and management throughout a pivotal transition. The position is based on-site in Madison, MS, and requires full commitment to the project duration.
