 Head of Banking Products – Financial Services

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced product leader to drive the strategy, commercial performance and customer outcomes across a diverse portfolio of banking products. This is a senior leadership position responsible for shaping the future direction of personal and business banking propositions within a fast-evolving and transformation-focused environment.
You will take ownership of a broad product suite spanning current accounts, savings, and partnership propositions across retail, SME, corporate and commercial segments. The role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution, working across commercial, risk, compliance, engineering and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the short- and long-term strategy for a multi-segment banking product portfolio.
  • Own commercial planning, performance monitoring and optimisation across products.
  • Use customer insight and data analytics to support product lifecycle management, from new proposition development through to in-life optimisation and product retirement.
  • Ensure products are delivered safely and align with regulatory expectations, conduct requirements and customer outcome standards.
  • Identify and manage customer harm and portfolio risk exposures.
  • Work collaboratively with delivery, forecasting, payments, fees and control functions to prioritise change initiatives.
  • Promote a strong risk-aware culture and support the organisation’s maturity in customer-focused risk management.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of senior product managers and product managers.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, customer behaviour and innovation across the banking sector.


Key Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in product management and proposition development within banking or financial services.
  • Proven ability to set commercial and customer strategy and secure senior stakeholder buy-in.
  • Strong understanding of personal and business banking current accounts and savings markets.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering measurable customer and commercial benefits through change programmes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and conduct frameworks, including customer outcome-focused design principles.
  • Ability to operate confidently across strategic and operational levels, translating complex topics into clear and actionable outcomes.
  • Experience coaching and leading product teams within a matrix organisational structure.
  • Proficiency in analytical and insight tools such as PowerBI and Excel.


Preferred Background

  • Experience in challenger banking, fintech or mid-sized financial institutions is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should demonstrate breadth across multiple customer segments, not just deep expertise in a single vertical.
  • Exposure to transformation environments and evolving business models is advantageous.
