Finance Operations Specialist (Contract)
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite (Amsterdam)
Contract Length: 6 months (with possible extension)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate: Competitive hourly rate
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Operations Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations and contribute to process improvements and change initiatives within a large, international organisation.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of finance operational activities and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment. Responsibilities will be aligned to business priorities and may cover one or more specialist finance areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily finance operations accurately and in line with defined deadlines
- Ensure financial processes are reliable, compliant, and well-controlled
- Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business requirements
- Support process improvements, automation, and operational change initiatives
- Contribute to ad-hoc finance projects as required
Functional Areas (Depending on Assignment)
- Billing and invoicing, including debit/credit notes and direct debits
- Payments and financial operations process improvement
- Accounts receivable, allocations, reconciliations, and month-end support
- Travel and expense administration and policy compliance
- Corporate credit card administration and reporting
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P), including AP, controls, vendor master data, and procurement support
Skills & Experience
- Experience in finance operations, accounting, shared services, or financial processing
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience working with finance systems (e.g. SAP, Concur, SQL, or similar)
- Ability to analyse data, identify discrepancies, and drive resolution
- Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Customer-focused, service-oriented mindset
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management capability
- Proven team player within cross-functional and international environments
- Experience working in or supporting global, multicultural teams
- Awareness of different cultures, working styles, and time zones
