Data ngineering Manager
Location: Manchester, UK (Hybrid – 1 day onsite, flexible)
Contract: 6 months (possible extension to April next year)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Rate: £750/day (inside IR35)
About the Role:
We are seeking a technically credible and proactive Engineering Manager to lead a Data Engineering team responsible for migrating legacy SAP systems to SAP S/4HANA. You will oversee delivery quality, mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (SOX, GDPR/PII).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing engineering team.
- Drive delivery excellence, including pipeline management and incident resolution.
- Partner with Product and Architecture teams to define roadmaps and priorities.
- Own team architecture and foster innovation and operational excellence.
Requirements:
- 2+ years formal engineering management experience.
- 10+ years backend software development experience.
- Proven experience modernizing legacy systems and leading migration projects.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- Experience with SOX/GDPR/PII regulated systems and AWS/cloud platforms is a plus.
- Proactive, collaborative, and able to work in a cross-functional environment.
