About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and governance of enterprise-wide data architecture within the Insurance and London Market domain. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape scalable, cloud-native data platforms and data products that drive underwriting, claims, pricing, and reinsurance capabilities.
You’ll combine deep insurance expertise with modern data architecture and AI-driven innovation to enable next-generation analytics and decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take ownership of the data architecture strategy and act as a trusted advisor across business and technology teams.
Enterprise Data Architecture

• Define and govern enterprise data architecture aligned to business strategy
• Design scalable, cloud-native data platforms using Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models across insurance domains
• Act as design authority in architecture governance and review boards
• Produce architecture documentation, options analysis, and recommendations

Insurance & London Market Expertise

• Provide architectural leadership across underwriting, claims, pricing, and reinsurance
• Support delegated authority, syndicates, and bordereaux processing
• Translate London Market operating models into scalable data solutions
• Ensure alignment with regulatory, reporting, and analytics requirements

Data Products, Analytics & AI

• Define and deliver domain-driven data products
• Enable advanced analytics and AI use cases such as:
  • Risk pricing optimisation
  • Claims triage & fraud detection
  • Exposure aggregation
  • NLP for document and bordereaux processing
• Collaborate with Data Science teams to operationalise ML models
• Support responsible adoption of GenAI within enterprise guardrails

Data Governance & Management

• Define and implement enterprise data governance frameworks
• Lead design of:
  • Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Reference data frameworks
  • Data quality controls and monitoring
  • Metadata management and lineage tracking
• Ensure data integrity, traceability, and compliance

Platform & Technology Leadership

• Evaluate and recommend modern data platforms and tools
• Define integration patterns (batch, streaming, APIs, event-driven)
• Lead decisions across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and analytics layers
• Collaborate with enterprise and security architects on non-functional requirements

Stakeholder Leadership

• Engage with senior stakeholders including C-suite executives
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value
• Act as a trusted advisor across the organisation
• Identify risks, opportunities, and optimisation areas

What We’re Looking For Essential Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior / Lead / Enterprise Data Architect
• Strong background in Insurance and London Market environments
• Deep understanding of underwriting lifecycle, claims, and reinsurance
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Strong expertise in modern data architecture & data modelling
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms and products
• Exposure to AI/ML and GenAI-enabled ecosystems

Data Governance & Management

• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks
• Experience with MDM, reference data, data quality, and metadata management
• Familiarity with domain-driven or federated data models

Leadership & Communication

• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Experience presenting at architecture boards and governance forums
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes
• Comfortable working autonomously in a strategic role

Nice to Have

• TOGAF (or equivalent) certification
• Experience with regulatory reporting in insurance
• Exposure to large-scale transformation programmes
• Knowledge of platforms such as Guidewire
