Java Developer (Platform Modernisation)

The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Core Software Engineer to join a high-performing Platform Engineering team within a globally recognised digital organisation. This role offers the chance to work on large-scale system modernisation, transforming legacy architecture into scalable, cloud-native services.
You’ll play a key role in reshaping critical platform components that support millions of users and partners worldwide.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading the migration of legacy systems into modern, scalable services
• Transitioning backend frameworks to a contemporary Spring Boot stack
• Refactoring and centralising data access through API-driven architecture
• Removing technical debt by decommissioning outdated scripts and endpoints
• Managing traffic migration and ensuring system stability throughout
• Driving engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, and observability

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Java backend engineering experience (Spring Boot preferred)
• Proven experience working on system migrations or modernisation projects
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
• Experience with data-mapping tools such as JOOQ (or similar)
• Ability to work with legacy codebases and transition them to modern architectures
• Understanding of distributed systems and API-based design
