Risk & Compliance Specialist – HR & Payroll

We are seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Specialist to support global HR & Payroll operations within a complex, fast-paced international environment. This role is key in strengthening governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across the People function.

You will work cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Legal, Finance, and Risk teams, acting as part of the first line of defence to ensure People processes are controlled, compliant, and aligned with best practice and legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Embed strong risk and compliance practices across HR and Payroll processes
  • Monitor and support execution of key controls (SOX, data privacy, internal policies)
  • Review and enhance processes related to hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and offboarding
  • Identify control gaps and implement remediation and continuous improvement actions
  • Partner with regional and global teams to ensure regulatory alignment
  • Support control owners with testing and guidance to ensure consistent compliance
  • Drive data-led improvements to process and control maturity

Skills and Experience

  • Background in Risk, Compliance, HR Operations, Audit, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of HR & Payroll regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOX)
  • Experience with governance, internal controls, and audit practices
  • Ability to translate operational risks into practical business solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across HR, Finance, Legal, and Audit
  • Proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a dynamic global environment

Preferred

  • Degree in HR, Business, Risk, or related discipline
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CISA, CIA, CPA)
