Senior Accountant
- Location: Amsterdam (hybrid – 1 day/week in the office)
- Rate: €83 per hour
- Duration: 6 months initial (possible extensions)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage a wide range of accounting activities in line with US GAAP. This role is responsible for controlling the organization’s financial resources, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will take ownership of a specific scope—such as a multiple country ledger or corporate responsibility—and will mentor and support the development of junior accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger according to accounting principles and schedules.
- Analyze, compile, and verify financial data; prepare reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and regulatory filings for leadership decision-making.
- Act as a technical accounting subject matter expert, advising functional and operational teams to support budgeting and financial management.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany transactions, and detailed account reconciliations.
- Support compliance requirements including SOX, tax, statutory filings, audits, and recommend process improvements.
- Assist internal and external audits and inquiries.
- Facilitate timely tax registrations, legal entity setups/changes, and treasury arrangements as needed.
- Manage complex accounts such as revenue, cost of sales, accruals, and intercompany transactions across multiple countries and stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach accountants through onboarding and continuous professional development.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification such as CIMA, ACCA, CPA, or CRA preferred.
Skills & Experience:
- Broad accounting experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-directed, resourceful, and solution-oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt flexibly.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Proficiency with accounting systems such as SAP, S4/HANA, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
