This onsite position reports directly to the company president. The Human Resources Manager will provide both strategic and tactical HR support, overseeing and performing all aspects of the HR function as a department of one. Responsibilities include recruitment, employee relations, development, compliance, and benefits administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage recruitment and staffing logistics, including resume review, interviewing, job postings, and coordinating with supervisors.
- Oversee completion of employee orientation and onboarding processes.
- Handle all aspects of workers’ compensation claims and requirements.
- Develop and administer HR policies and procedures for both union and non-union employees.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on employee relations matters, including morale, benefits, safety, and terminations.
- Lead HR practices that promote a high-performance culture focused on quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Design and conduct HR-related training programs.
- Advise the leadership team on employment decisions and strategies.
- Maintain HRIS data and employee records.
- Administer and track FMLA, LOA, STD, and ADA requests.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, such as EEO reporting.
- Administer company benefits programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Guide employees on benefits eligibility, coverage, and other inquiries.
- Manage annual open enrollment and process benefit changes related to life events or enrollments.
- Ensure fiduciary responsibilities for the 401(k) plan are met.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience with employee relations in both union and non-union environments preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws and compliance requirements.
- Expertise in benefits administration and HRIS systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build strong partnerships across all organizational levels and foster trust.
- Effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and multi-tasking abilities.
